I bought some old JA Pearce mags with OK tyres on them, decided to get the tyres put on another set of alloys (which didn't require wheelarches) instead of forking out for a set of new tyres. So, everything was fine and last night I decided to take my mate out for a blast around the cliff road, we were going pretty fast and as I rounded a bend at high speed, I appeared to have hit a big rock. One about as big as an engine block, there was a massive bang and I thought "Shit, when I get out and look at the car, I expect to need a new bumper, grille, wing, etc, etc" anyway to my surprise, there was no damage at all, apart from the tyre had a 2" rip in it. I went back to see what I had hit and there was nothing there. The tyre just failed. Needless to say, I had a bit of a tall order to prevent having an off.

Moral of the story, do not swap tyres around onto different rims. When they seat properly, in order to break the bead, it necessary to use large force, which can upset the integrity of the tyre (I had pro's do it). This was the reason for failure. If it had happened about 4 seconds earlier, I would probably have gone right over a 200ft cliff.
