Bulkhead steering bush

Can anybody tell me what is the best thing to do ?.I have been told I cannot update the bulkhead steering bush on my series 1 2.8i and will have to replace the existing nylon bush. Is this true.

Don't know the answer specifically, but I do have a set of instructions (with pictures) for replacing the bearing...

About 2 hrs work to replace the bearing.
Contact www.tvrcarparts.com, and get them to send you the necessary parts. - - This should be the bearing, the bearing carrier and the nylon/plastic insert for the bearing.
I would get 5 off M5 bolts and nyloc nuts as well.

I believe the procedure is covered in the S Series pages and there is quite a good write up in the Bible.

Whilst you're grovelling around the steering 'gear' it's worth checking the UJ's at each end of the intermediate shaft for smoothness of operation too - if they appear rough it's worth getting a new one.
The UJ nearest the rack usually is the worst as it sees more road c$ap.

you just need to drill a couple more holes as the original I believe is only 3 bolt?

Thanks for the info but I got a newbearing kit from tvrparts .com and quite easy to fit as well.
