Radiator bleed tap

After doing some work on the front of the car, swirlpot, bonnet hinges, radiator etc etc, the rebuild went fine. Now to fill with coolant and bleed the radiator to eliminate air in the radiator, I find that the bleed tap on the top of the radiator has broken so some of it is in the radiator. As the engine was ticking over whilst trying to bleed the radiator, I am hoping the missing piece of bleed tap is resting in the bottom of the radiator. Can I have your thoughts on this, pretty please. The radiator is going to be removed again to see if it is in there, I HOPE!!!!!!!!. Is there a chance it has moved around in the system, as I`m concerned about the water pump, thanks in advance for any thoughts.

if the tap is still in the rad you should be able to fish it out from the bottom hose inlet
i doubt if the water flow would move a bit of brass around the system - the pump is up hill from the bottom of the rad and brass should not be carried along with the water flow
take the rad out - shake it and see if it rattles !
you can get a new tap etc from the radiator place in abercarn

PHEW , got home from work and started on the car straight away. Took the radiator out and gave it a shake, bingo it rattled, so ouy came the offending article. I see you replied to my cry of help Mr Pickle, thanks for that, I am now very relieved and can get on with the rebuild.
