hi there, just a quickie........

have a hif 44, any ideas what the problem is when fuel is running out of the float vent? i have a facett solid state pump and was thinking that it has too much pressure, getting a pressure regulator soon, am i right in thinking this? if so, what pressure should it be at?

Cheers Rob

Well, I've got a pacett SS fuel pump (noisy damn thing mounted in the boot) and my HIF44 doesn't leak or at least i haven't seen it leak. There again I have only done about 20 miles so far.....

You could try a 'Flowmaster' valve to give some control of fuel pressure. I use twin Facit pumps for reliability and 'fail-safe' working and always have the regulator at about no 3 setting.

just an update, not that anyone would have experienced this but...........

got a pressure regulator, set ot on the lowest setting, still pis#ed out. thought 'right, it aint going to get the better of me!'

after completly stripping the carb down i discover that the person who owned it before me had replaved the needle valve but had put the needle in the wrong way round........

turned it round, put it back together and, hey presto, works perfect, now on to running the engine in, any tips or recomendations?
