Whilst working away yesterday and crawling into strange positions to remove clevis pins and undoing hard to get to nuts it dawned on me just how awkward my lovely little mini can be sometimes and I got to thinking about all the stubborn things she does to me. And whilst sat in the house putting on my 55th plaster of the day I thought is it just me or does anyone else miss there knuckles??

Awkward sometimes, but you do love her all the same. I think it was david bailey or some other glam 60s dude who said, 'women are like cars, the more tweaky they are, the more likely they'll let you down'.

It's correct name is "MINI SPANNER RASH"

As above, spanner rash is fun.

Have you tried the lower engine mountbolts yet? Ther're also a joy as are the standard exhaust manifold clamps.

At the end of the day though, if we didn't love them it wouldn't be fun and if it wasn't this challenging it wouldn't be love.

Mini !

Maintenance tip of the week:

When changing engine mountings, don't use the ones with the trapped nuts fitted, they can come adrift and if you cross thread them (easy to do) it's very difficult to get the bolts out again. Take the new mountings and mig-weld really good deep 5/16" unf nuts to them. Open up the existing holes in the sub-frame sides to about 7/16" diameter to make alignment easier and use large thick washers when bolting up.
Also, whilst drilling the subframe, drill some 3/4" holes in the sub-frame sides to give access to the bolts around the clutch end cover. It makes clutch changes so much easier.
I hope this helps. It will certainly reduce the 'spanner rash'.

A better reason to fit an LCB is hard to think of - except for the increase in power, maybe.
