M5 Seats - Advice please
Discussion
I'm thinking of trading in my TVR for an M5.
However, I have one problem. Our current family car is a 525 Sport Touring (02 plate). I'm about 6'2", and just can't get comfy in it - i.e. if I sit in the position I want to sit my head hits the roof.
The 525 does have a sunroof. Would an M5 have similar seats? Does the sunroof in a 5 series reduce the amount of headroom? Can you get an M5 without a sunroof?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Would the seats in an M5 (e39) be the same design as a 525 Sport Touring (02 plate)?
I don't know the seats you have in the 525 touring, but I've not seen the M5 seats in other E39 I've been in. They are more sporty shaped. Have a look through the PH classifieds at the seats in M5s and compare them to your current car.

Never really understand the point of a sun-roof on a car with air-con anyway.
Helps let the water in.
I'm a shade over 6 foot and the M5 has loads of spare headroom. The height adjust on the seats is vast and I have mine well above their lowest setting.
There are a couple of different seat styles out there. If I remember correctly, most M5s come with either Heritage or Nappa leather. The Heritage has vertical ribs. The nappa has flat panels. I have the nappa version and, like I say, there is plenty of room.

For reference, my car also has a factory (metal) sunroof.
Thanks all. Reason I am concerned about headroom is that I suffer from a bad back. I like to sit quite high (which helps my back), and hence good headroom is a must. In the 525 Touring (our family car), to get sufficient headroom I have to lower the seat quite a way down. Not the car's fault - but mine for having a bad back
Guess the best thing is go try an M5!
Incidentally, what sort of money are we talking for a good one?
Thanks in advance.
