Anyone buying the Cayman S?

Does anyone know how sales of the Cayman S are doing. I've not actually seen one on the roads (in the UK) yet but every OPC i've called has sold this years allocation. Hmm...

Actually yes.........i picked up my 2nd one yesterday from the OPC in Swindon.

......didn't like the colour combo of the first one!

Also, sales exec at OPC said they have approx 40 new cars going out on 1st March of which 20 are new Caymans!

No. Call around and you'll get one quicker.

I picked up my first one in December then after only a few days i called my local OPC and said i'd order another one if they could get me an early build slot. Initially told me March/April which quickly became February when i paid my deposit. 2 months total from specification time to collecting my new car yesterday.

I had a chat with a good guy at mayfair OPC and they said June Julyish for an order made in the next month or so. They have ten going out up to september i think he said. So it doesn't seem they've sold their allocation.
I was told 3k for the deposit which seemed a bit steep but then its not a ford is it i suppose?
Cash flow for me says I am going to order one in the summer therefore....can't wait even for that.

As for not seeing them. Well they've only been out for 3 full months so production won't be up to full stream and the Americans will probably be taking most I'd say.

It could just be the usual BS from OPC's bigging themselves up. I'm sure that if I showed enough interest to part with a £3K deposit, the OPC would magically be able to get me one in a few weeks.

BTW, talking of the Cayman, I found a UK-based site has sprung up about it: http://driverscar.co.uk. Are there any other UK sites for the Cayman?

The official Porsche Club GB site still seems to class the Cayman as a Boxster Coupe. I personally think it's a bit more than that but is a tad expensive.

Thanks for that link autostrada, the PCGB has finally separated out the Boxster and Cayman boards! Up until recently they were lumped together on a single board.

OPC told me they needed 10% deposit since when i submitted the final spec so i needed 5K.

I was told the same: £3K initial deposit and £2K on final spec, making £5K in total. Seems like a bargain when you realise they ask for an initial deposit of £10K for a 911 turbo!

OPC Solihull yesterday qouted me about 7 months for delivery.

Were these waiting for 01 March delivery? Reading has loads but these are awaiting collection. Nothing that I can actually buy. I wouldn't mind one in Seal Grey as i've read somewhere that this is one of the colours that's about to become a special order colour in 2007.

A friend of mine has a black one available for March 1. He needs to get rid of it. Haven't spoken for a few days, but it may still be available.

I've got one coming in MArch - can't wait.
