Jet Beetle at Santa Pod
Austec Racing, based in Crawley, W Sussex, has organised a day of drag racing for all Tivvers on Santa Pod's drag strip. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest cars too.
It should be a hugely fun day out, with plenty of chances to meet and talk to other owners and all TVR models are welcome.
When: Saturday 8 April 2006
Where: Santa Pod Raceway, Wellingborough, Northants
Price: £10 per person admission fee, plus £50 for unlimited runs on the strip (or as long as your clutch lasts!).
Austec has already booked the first 50 places but 100 are required to make the event break even. So to book, call Paul Austin on 01293 531080. Payment is required in advance.

Lets face it, £10 for one hours spectating is not good value for money as that's all it's going to take for those Trevor's that actually make it to Santa Pod to either blow a head gasket/gearbox/clutch, overheat, leak fluids in to/out of car, fall apart or run out of juice!
Mine is Too FAST For this - need 1/2 mile at least...
Jellison - "You can't handle the truth!" If you car takes 1/2 mile to get up to speed then you may as well not take it mate! 260BHP is plenty for me to get my lithe motor to 60 in 5.5 secs! It's all it needs. That's why you need 400BHP through your agricultural RWD to get you off the start line before blowing a gasket at 30ft! We could go on all day!richiefly said:

A 4.5 Chim gets 0-60 in just over 4 seconds, sounds and looks better and isnt synonomous with boy racers.

Claire, you're quite right, but I don't hold it against you. Being jealous of reliable and solid everyday/all weather ability, rally-bred surefooted handling, low labour charges for not having to take wings off to change the wiper motor are all quite understandable. back atcha. (Love ya really - I don't mind Trevors - somebody has to own them!)

Not sure what you get from Trolling.
That apart, quite happy to put any of my standard TVRs against your modified Scoobie and see how many times you loose out of 10. I'm also quite happy that they wont break cos they wont be worked particularly hard to achieve the job in hand.
A perception that TVRs are all unreliable? its a perception - same as most Scoobie owners aren't Chavs......are they?.

At last - somebody with a sense of humour! Anyway, tiff in a teacup. We all have our shortcomings. Standard Scooby dooby doos, or whatever you want to call them AndyGriff, usually do the pod in the low 13's to 14 no, not round Tesco's car park, down the strip - what can you TVR guys do them in? (Serious answers only please!) Are you looking at 12's/13's?

Well, I've obviously hit on a rather raw nerve here so please, let me apologise profusely for any offence I may have caused due to my blatent and unadulterated trolling and let us end the matter on a high note, in true PH fashion and recognise our mutual love of all things fast and noisy. I hope those of you that go all have a fantastic time at Santa Pod - I certainly do whenever I attend. Could I just say that I, at no point, intimated that my car could outpace a TVR? But I think you could admit that a second's difference between a 4.5 litre and a 2.0 litre car is worthy of some credit? No? didn't think so.
Richie, as a complete 'strip' novice Id be happy with late 12s/early 13s in my cerb. I know some cerb owners on PH can get into the early 12s (and some with fettling can get under that, dont even start me on the guys with NOS ).
Have a look at this www.jsread.com/tvr/quartermile.htm Not sure what Subaru you have but I just put a 4.2 cerb (mines a 4.5) up against a P1 I know they're only press figures, but its a bit of fun

A fast Tvr will get low 13's and really fast one well into the 12's - might see a few in the high 11's.
Trust me straight round warm day day good grip you might be first off the line for the first 100m but after that the huge powered RWD cars will be GONE................
You should come and watch. Not really my bag - but I'll give anything a go the once - racing now that is really where it is at.
