What in the H-E-Double-Toothpicks is that? Is that a view of the injectors with the heads off? Is that simulated audio? Are they spraying something for cooling? The sound is awesome, but I am not quite sure what I was looking at...

Its the air being drown into the inlet trumpets under vacuum, the vacuum pulls the moisture out of the air a bit like the trails on car or plane wings.

There is a second set of fuel injectors at the top, this is now standard on all F1 Engines, they used to have varyable lenght trumpets aswell, controlled by stepper motors, but the trumpets look fixed.. But may be they don't want to give all the secrets away...

Variable length inlet trumpets not allowed in 2006 with the new V8 2.4 litre regs. And only one fuel injector per cylinder too - which is the one you can see above the trumpet. That "mist" is just the fuel queueing up to get into the engine and burn. Water injection is banned too, under the terms of "any devices designed to precool the air before it enters the cylinder."

The Fuel is injected at up to 100bar - that's 1450ish psi, so it does atomise quite well.

i think thats the V10?????? if you take a look im sure you can see 5 cylinder per side. and the final pick is def the V10! also they are only reving the thing to 18000! thats lame by the V8 standards! thoes things are reputed to go to over 20K!

anyway still F*CKING amazing! i want 10 of them! lol

Google seems to think it's a V8 but it isn't. At the start of the clip you can see it says © 2004 and at the end of the clip it identifies the engine as RS24, which is the V10 from a couple of years ago.

Which explains why it sounds like a V10...not like a flat plane V8 Ferrari LP played at 45 rpm.

Shame really. I'm looking forward to hearing the new engines. Quite like the old Ford DFV sound...even if it sucks compared with a proper V8 with a balanced crank...

Hey Joop, Congrats! a screemer it is then good choise that BMW V10 and a racy engine it is when you have it ready to fire up(long time from now I guess) let me know and I drop by to enjoy the sound and power...
