Radio Aerial

Does anyone know how to remove the radio aerial from an M400, seems impossible to me without damaging the headlining. I'm fed up with bad radio reception (of course only in town when i can't listen to the exhaust)

May be more likely to be a bad connection or a poor reciever. The ariel itself should be fine situated where it is.

I looked at moving it once but found it very tough to get to and thought it best not to try.

If you want good reception, I would check the radio connection is good and maybe fit another in the front and just leave the old one.

You might also find that a different head unit makes a massive difference.

Have a chat with the stereo bod at your local car hifi specialists.

I am sure that you will get their full attention when you turn up!!

No, Adrian's correct. The orginal aerial is rubbish. I'd be interested how it comes off too as I've got a rattle around that area I need to find.

My arial doesn't rattle...coz I told them not to fit one

Does an Alpine CDA9835R head unit sound good enough, the issue is that the Ford anntena used is designed to use a ground plane equal to the proportion of the lengh of the antenna i.e.1/4 wave. As the Noble is fibreglass there is no ground plane, answer fit an antenna designed to work without a ground plane. I new that electronics degree would come in usefull one day!

Vegantune say they have a solution - worth giving them a ring?

Personally I just listen to CD's, as I moved to DAB (which doesn't require a ground plane as it's a balanced dipole antenna), but DAB coverage is crap for on the move so I gave up

Thought about it after i bought the Alpine, origonaly thought the problem was the cheap Sony unit fitted, trusting Noble's aerial choice but i was wrong................such is life

Tried an amp, even using a head unit with good if rejection all they do is amplify the mush, i think the antenna Vegantune offer is an amplified diapole mounted on the windscreen. still think the answer is a good antenna but dont know how to remove the existing one.

AFAIK you'd have to unpick the headlining. I'm sure a decent installer could do it for you?

Alternativly you could try one of the Blaukpunt sticky ones?
