I spoke to a guy at the track a few weekends ago who had built a V8 powered 914. He was actually my instructor and an engineer and was wrestling a little bit with shifting my car on the track. He was looking over the shift linkage and told me that Renegade Hybrid now had a side shifter for the G50. Got to looking and sure enough they do! Its a cable setup and might be interesting. Have a look. www.renegadehybrids.com/kitcars/techarticle.pdf
Cheers!

Any photos? How would they go about retrofits to our G5050 transaxles?

What did you do for track day insurance? Sounds like you had a blast.

California Motor Sports of Arizona did it to my G50. It is not yet on the road. I also got a Cartronic sequential shifter to go with it. The shifter is a cable shifter that converts forward and rearward movement into an H pattern cable movement

Bobby Heart at California Motorsports...

Here's a picture of the cable shift. More at the site above.

I checked out that site some months ago it would seem they have to strip the whole box to machine the casing for the conversion.

Ken.... are you wanting to go sequential shift or is there a problem with your current shifter.

Bigmac... my shift seems to work fine... maybe its the orientation of your joints and the shift arm on the box?

My shifter is working great. The problem is that I need a location to put the dry sump tank and want to use the factory location in the rear of the chassis. To do this I've got to scrap the solid linkage. I hate to do this but this car corners well enough on street tires (295/30 fronts) that I need a dry sump system.

Tblackey: how do you like your side shifter, what shifter did you use? Any photos of your cars interior? I would greatly appreciate this information.

My current plans are to ship the transaxle to Roger Brown (now at California Motorsports) for instalation of the side cable shifter, source a dry sump pan from Billet Fabrication in Seattle (they have detailed photos and mesurements on my car with the Dart block), get a Barnes dry sump pump with a mounting plate for the oil filter built in and as of now a shifter from Renegade Hybrids. Anyone have an opinion on Gilmer drive versus high torque drive pulleys.

So far Renegade has been good to work with. I've been having issues with the transaxle, but I believe it to be the clutch. Renegade has the car right now and is looking at it.
