How well do you pamper your porsche?

5 months ago I brought a '98 996. I've been lucky to own some great drivers cars over the years (Evo 8 FQ330, STI 8 PPP,RX8) but owning a 911 feels like I'm in a dream. Because it's a 911 and it's over 7 years old I've pampered this car more than any other car.

It's hand washed twice a week, finished off with tyre slick once a fortnight to keep the tyres looking new. I've cleaned the engine bay and polished up the exhaust tips every month or so. I noticed just a few slight blemishes to my interior so to make the interior back to as new as possible I've brought a new handbrake lever, centre no smoking tray, tiptronic button, porsche mats, a new carpet on the back shelf where the dvd player used to be and the typical hinge kit for rear glove box.

The car was in really great condition when I brought it, I've just tried to get it back to as near perfect condition as possible.

Do any of you pamper your cars like this or is this quite tame?

Just kidding!!! yes I do, I'm completely anal about my 996 Turbo I even had the car detailed 2 months ago. I seriously advise you to do the same I used to wash the car every week and now only once a fortnight!

Frankly I should be shot!

Although my car is maintained regardless of cost I have lots of stone chips which makes detailing/cleaning a waste of time. Accordingly it gets a power wash at the local optimax outlet everytime it's looking grubby but that's about it.

I used to pamper my 993 more than i pamper my GT3. I think its down to kids and time and lack thereof. Its not neglected, only zymoled once in a while rather than monthly.

That said, its in a heated garage.

Weekly clean and rub down with the chamois. Tyres get a dose of the Permagard black stuff every week as well. I'd like to get the wheels off and give them a clean up by hand, but that'll happen when they get refurbed.

Ive had mine a year and a bit and washed it 4 times.

I last cleaned mine in October.

In fact I should check it's still in the garage.

Ermmm ... usually only gets washed when it gets serviced. Same for interior. At the moment the back is full of crumbs, mud & other gunk (we have a 3 yo).

Driven. Not polished. Its the PH way...


I wash my car regularly and I pressure wash all the salt off it if I take it out into nasty conditions. But this is rare as during the winter it really only gets run often enough to keep it happy - no "real" use.

In fact my car has a ludicrously easy, pampered life until the Track Day season comes.

Its cowering in the garage quivering with fear in anticipation right now.

Im one of those rare breeds, i have a porsche and a tvr. The old 928S is in need of some love and attention TBH, shes planned in for a full respray later in the Spring so doesnt get any attention what so ever at the mo.
The tiv however gets extremely well pampered, ive recently been introduced to the Mothers range of products and theyre truely amazing, a few of the tvr boys are using this at the moment, Probably trying to keep it a secret from the porsche mod, dont think they'd want the porsches looking as shiny

When I had my 997 i used to get it cleaned almost evertime i went out in it and i wouldn't even leave a ticket on the floor. My girlfriend actually called me anal at one point, never i thought!!!! Funny thing is that since i sold it back in Aug and i bought an A3 TDI keeping the car clean really isnt at the top of my list. The Audi went in for a service last week the second time its been cleaned since buying it.(which i was told after they serviced it that it was a year early, DOH!!) At least the service included taking the crap out the back.

it depends on how hard you have had to work to get your porsche. if like me the hard way i now porsche cars dont grow on trees i look after mine wash it all the time do all my own servicing etc i am going to show it this year its the only 944 in my classic car club
