crafty, you think it would sit low enough???

be nice to see what these things can ultimatly do! and i think there is much less of a packaging issue than with turbos or centrifugal SCs!

plus you get loooooaaaadddddsss of torque!

thanks Chris.

That's quite nice but it seems to be based on the 6.0 iron truck engine as opposed to being an ls2 alloy job.

It looks great, but I went with Gail at American Speed. Here are the states on my engine form the dyno:

406" Chevy aluminum block engine.
11.0 Comp., CFE 260 18 deg. cyl heads. Donovan alum. block, Edelbrock Victor 18 deg. manifold, Holly 80509 830 carb, 1 7/8" dia. headers, comp cams CS266/272 R108 roller cam, Jesel 1.6 rocker shaft assembly, ASE 6" 3d steel rods, ASE 4340 steel crank, MSD dist. w/18 deg. initial advance @900 rpm, 38 deg total advance @ 3000 rpm, Accel 416 plugs .035" gap, Amoco 93 gas, 8 qts. Pennzoil 15w-40, valve lash .024" intake, .026" exhaust.

Peak horsepower 723.8 @ 6300 RPM
Peak torq 663.1 ft-lbs @ 5000 RPM
Very flat tourq curve!

And great doing business with Gail. He work very close with the Ultima factory so I am not expecting any probles when I drop the engine in my car soon.

cmoody32, very nice man. looks very good!have you got any graphs or anything yet? oh and if you dont mind, how much id i cost?????

the other advantage to the turnkey engine is with a simplle pully swap and a remap there could be a lot more bhp waiting to come.

no news on if they will do and ally block yet!

Chris.

wow, at least 50hp and more torque than Gareths. Are we going to see another record-breaking Ultima?

Not unless it can make 8000rpm. The record is done in first and second only. Another gear shift would likely lose the vital spilt seconds.

Thanks guys. The cost is on American Speeds web sight. Gail was more then helpfull.

Gail told me that Ted at Ultima already has a Can-Am with a 720 hp from A-S being put together right now. He even sent me a picture. I dont think I will be the one setting the record, it looks like it will be Richard again.

Yes this set up should beat the old record. The red line will not be a problem and it will not take more then 2 gear changes.

Steve - good point. I'm looking at my next Ultima build project. I'm curious to see if there is any type of paddle shift or computer controlled shifter on these transaxles? This probably requires a different type of clutch as well.

You have to change the gearing of a G50 to get 60mph in 1st even at 8000rpm, fortunatelly this is easily done.

Incidentaly my car rev'd to 7000rpm and could do 60mph in 1st and 100mph in 2nd so it is possible although that was a 930 box.

I spoke to Richard this morning. He said that the Can Am that they just put together at the factory with the 720hp AS engine is a customers car. He said it is wicked fast. They will not set record in customer cars however they do have a 720hp AS engine that will be setting the new record very soon.

Richard said that all of the wold records were set starting in 2nd gear. That is how you get to 100 mph with only 1 gear change.

So would these 650+ Hp Ultimas be possibly daily driven?
Like the 700 hp LS2 supercharged engine for sale at almost $19,000.

It does now on the new link but something would have made me question the block material earlier on. I can see an lsx water pump on the new pages but suspect that earlier it was an iron block being reviewed. I see these things

Great choice IMHO ...

The chapman racing 18 degree head is the key ... its great to be the daddy of this range of engines
