Tuning - V8S

Hi out there

Last year I bought a beauty of a V8S and I'm absolutely happy with it. It only ran 45 TKM (about 28 T miles) and is in a very nice overall condition. Next to some jobs in the interior I would like to tune up the engine just a little. Is there any easy and convenient way to get a little more out of it? (e.g. an air filter from K&N) Most of all I don't want to risk any damage on my Tiv, therefore I'm looking for some harmless but still in a certain way efficient solutions. Do you have any ideas? Every feedback is highly appreciated!

I would say a tornado chip would be the best way of getting the most out of the car for relatively little money? The Chip is £350 and Mark Adams can map it to be somewhere near your cars spec, once he knows everything about the car. Of course getting it on the rolling Road for a session with Mark Adams and Austec would be best but as you are over in Switzerland that may not be possible? Do you intend to come over at all???

Thank you very much for this input. A tuning chip sounds very good to me. How can I get in touch with Mark Adams? Do you have any idea what kind of information is necessary to adapt the chip to the needs of my Tiv? It would be no problem at all to plan a trip to the UK (... haven't been there for a long time) during spring or early summer - if this is necessary. But still there is the questions if this chip is not causing any "long-term damage" to the engine. What do you think about that?

What does the air intake pipe look like on yours? There are significant (and very cheap) gains to be had here on some cars.

To me the air intake pipe appears to be pretty untouched. I think this is kind of standard – if ever we can talk about standard on a TVR. But I will send you a picture of the air intake pipe which I will take tonight. Anyway, I assume you are talking about an upgraded air-intake system?

Andy there are no long term issues with using the chip as far as I know, I have the chip and its been remapped on the rolling road and it is much stronger. You can give Mark the info and he can map the chip according to his records what it 'Should' be, but there is no substitute for a rolling road session to set it up. You need to speak to Paul at Austec [phone] and he will set it up for you. When I first had my chip put in my car went from 202bhp and 190lbft torque to 231bhp & 259 lbft torque and the everyday usability is really improved. After a few more tweaks and another remap I now have 263bhp & 284 lbft torque so there are plenty of gains to be had!

Pete also makes a good point about the air intake pipe, a silicon pipe or re-routed pipe can work wonders with the power for relatively little money.

Thanks mate, I have found the bend, the other isnt available, that is the right code yeah......? How did you connect them together, did you use their hose connector?

you need 76mm (but it aint cheap)

To join I used 76mm SS tube (thin wall} probably only need 3-4 inches this is simply stuffed up the pipe and held there with two jubilee clips

P.s I have SS tube too I think
