usable length for engine?

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me the usable length
from the porsche gearbox with standard mounting
to the chassis in front?
Or, how long can the engine be, so it will fit in the chassis
with standard mounting and porsche gearbox?

From the front of the adaptor plate/back of block to the chassis on mine is 770mm.
However that is a crankshaft level where the bulkhead is vertical. Within approx 100mm the bulkhead starts sloping back towards the engine. This can be seen and appreciated on Stigs build site where the pulley for the charger has to poke through the bulkhead.

I presume the adapter is about 20/30mm so 800mm included?
The M5 V8 is 720 so thats okee. The MB V8 is about the same.
A V12 MB is?
Got a brandnew MB V12 BITURBO engine offered today
Said is was from a SLR but that cannot be. They have only V8.
I think it was a S600 engine.
But maibe next year the SLR comes with that engine.
It had a ECU on the top maybe somebody else knows which one it was?
I get picures in a few weeks.

and put some numbers down.

Tonight I was dreaming:
Maybe it is the new SL65 AMG.
Yummi Yummi, then it is mine.

But must be sure it will fit.

Don't add/subtract the thickness of the adaptor plate as you will still need one regardless of engine type unless you intend fitting a Porsche lump.

Read somewhere chris that engine is impressive DETUNED.
Because of the gearbox
