I think I have found the scource of the odd noise from the rear of my S2 as mentioned in another thread. I jacked up the rear left and had a good poke around and everything looks fine, put the car in 4th gear with front wheels chocked and the handbrake off. Rotated the wheel back and foward, movement in the diff, now having read the bible it says tighten the front and rear bolts on the brackets. I hope this will cure the horrible noise, has anyone done this in the past as it looks a pretty awkward job.

Not done it myself - but a job I need to do is replace the diff mounting bushes.

Would it be worth replacing your bushes at the same time?

I havent yet had a look at the mounts or the bushes, but a sound idea when I get under the car and have a look at it all.
