The bloody mag's only gone and done it again!

I know I'll get a biased view here, but anydoby tempted..? 475lbs/ft of torque! Murcielago grunt for a little more than the price of a new Sag, I have to confess, I like it!

PS:IIRC, this topic has also been done before (sorry). But the search doesn't work through my work filters...

I kicked of that thread before and ended up plumping for the Z06 but it was a close run thing with the Sagaris and I nearly bought one in December when I heard the Z06 would take longer than originally expected to arrive. Boot space was a main factor in the end decision!

Surprised by the Autocar review that seems to disagree with everything else written about the Z.

I would have thought that the LHD over RHD might be a factor?

...not that it matters as much nowadays, with most decent NSL roads being replaced with hideous chevron infested / 50 / 40 / 30 / bollards every 100 yards type things!!!

I'd be very tempted if someone put that engine in a lighweight, attractive and good looking shape car with no plastic in the inteior.

Oh, they have...

If you mean the Marcos, it's a different engine.

Fabulous and dependable engine in the Z06, very quick with tyre shredding torque (which is nice!), styling on exterior is good (but still lacks a little imagination and sense of occasion), and interior could be better. But love the head up display.

Personally I think that it is a fair rival for TVR in many respects, but ONLY if it was RHD.

Sadly, the way most people drive on the motorway these days, LHD gives the best view of potential passing opportunities...

Vette at VW was alot different to std C6 more than I though - Mean - but bigger all round than Sag.

Bloody Cheap for all the performance (not that I am about to get one - I wish) - just different to Sag - in a whole differnet Power league - Both Fantastic.

I was looking at Autocar review of Viper recently (early 90's). Viper and Vette both down as £50k cars. Griffith 4.3 was £28k I believe. This 60k Vette is far more car for the money than years ago. The Sagaris needs a widget to force more air into its engine ! Do this, add on 10k and TVR will once more be into the big power league

PS : I'd like to thank you for your restraint on not mentioning how great a LS7 Sag would be

He cant, it would kill the Sagaris stone dead.
The Griff/Chimps were all about a sledgehammer in a velvet wrapping and suited the job perfectly. I bitched about the S6 in the Sagaris from my first drive in one, I missed the low down thump, I missed the exhaust noise (Ok so I had a 4.3) and I esp missed what happened to your ears at 83mph...yes all the pre-cat owners stop grinning so smugly...but now I get the S6 in the Sagaris wrapper. A sledgehammer V8 approach just wouldnt work, it doesnt and it wouldnt suit the whole idea of it.

What it needs is twin screws and a whine that shatters wine glasses on full bananas somewhere south of Hampshire!

I live in Italy so LHD is a bonus. Who is going to look after the TVR properly; not the big things but the niggling faults.
Also, you can buy for the equivalant 50K GBP a relatively low mileage 550 Maranello or 996 Turbo. Both quick cars. There's a choice then.

whatever

Not tempted. Don't like the exterior and (though I've never seen it) the interior doesn't sound inspiring either.

Not a car I'd buy "just for the engine", as another thread round here goes.

Nice to see your car's fame increasing this month.

Would it be possible to do what you did with a... TR7(!) ?

Yes, the logical progression for the Sag definitely as your last paragraph . I can see how the character of TVR's has been linked to the engines from Griff/Chim -> Cerb -> Sag. The sledgehammer as you describe would of course be welcome in a Cerb II whilst still leaving room for a Super Sag at the top, being the most pure TVR and dynamically capable in the range.
