550 depreciation
Discussion
550 prices have not fallen with the release of the 575M - in fact values have started to firm up - Given that Ferrari made a cock-up of the early 575Ms people were genuinely selling them back and getting back into their 550M.... In America, a few people have told me that this depreciation trend may have started to reverse... incidentally 550 Barchettas are on sale for $350,000.
I reckon that advice is absolute BULLSHIT... I reckon 360s are on for a kicking whereas 550s have already fallen heavily - the key issue is whether a 550s loss is "ACTUALLY greater" than a 360 as opposed to "relatively greater" (as a proportional value).

Broadly agree with Manu. In general the V12s experience pretty catastrophic depreciation over the first 18 months or so, then level out after that, though still tending downwards. With the V8s, this is much more linear; they tend not to lose value or even appreciate when a new model comes out, then decline in a straight line as a function of time thereafter.
You are going to lose money on whichever car you have, in addition to the transaction costs of changing your car (you will pay more from the car than its worth when you come to sell it, even if it's the same day).
Having said all this I have not noticed 550 prices falling, and I have noticed 360 prices falling. This is not a scientific study though, and could have more to do with the fact that I sold my 360 recently. My guess is that you will lose the same amount (in pound notes) on both in the next 12 months.
