Why do people say "Can I get" instead of "Can I have"....it really gets on my bloody nerves! Too much Cafe scenes from Friends and Frasier.

People, americans cannot speak English!!! It's not right!!!

They can stick their skinny latte where the sun doesn't shine....no wot I mean!

You can't really fight semantic development, it always has and always will happen. It's best to make sure you speak in a manner acceptable to yourself, and hope that the evil txt spk dont x over 2 r dicshunrees.

I KNOW exactly what you mean.

Pistonheads' rule #438; if you're going to take the mick out of someone's grammar, spelling or use of English ensure you write it correctly yourself.

Actually can I ask, what the is a skinny latte?

I thought it was one with skimmed milk, but no.

And sorry, I will NEVER call them grande or vente or whatever. It's :censored@ing small, medium or large as I am not a poncing American cafe lounger.

I must admit, this "Can I get" thing did take me by surprise when I was in the UK at christmas. It's bad enough when uttered by a "Friend" on the tv, but plain wrong when said by a chavulent youth in rainy Sutton Coldfield.

(I also have a little rule about always agreeing with guys called "Vinnie" ) .
