525i Sport M50 Top End Clatter

Hi All,
My 525i sport with the M50 24v engine has always been very quiet in the top end. (She had had all Tappets etc replaced before i purchased her around 20k miles ago)
I recently had an Oil & Filter change and now i get alot of valve clatter on initial startup and quite pronounced tapping even when hot.
Is it just a co-incidence in which case i need an engine inspection or is the M50 engine quite fussy with Oil grades. New oil is fully synthetic but not Magnatec as used previously.
She has done 138k miles. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
