I'm hoping I can get some advice from the ICE experts.

I have a stereo system in my living room, but I'd like to be able to listen to it in the next room, ie. the kitchen. I'm thinking about putting some car speakers into the ceiling (it needs plastering anyway), but I'm really looking for ideas on how to connect the stereo in the living room to the speakers in the kitchen. Obviously I want to still be able to use the speakers in my living room - and unfortunately my stereo only has one set of speaker out sockets.

Any ideas???

No idea how good they are, but most a/v shops will be able to sell you a speaker splitter/switch effort that will allow you to direct the output to two or more sets of speakers in various combinations.

I'd have thought your biggest problem would be driving car speakers from a home hifi system (different impedence probably).

2 options.

1. Obvious - but buy another stereo and fit it in the kitchen - probably the simplest and cheapest option.

2. Buy proper ceiling mount speakers. They'll be better optimised for a room in a house than car speakers will be. I would figure plastering car speakers into your kitchen ceiling won't do al lot for the value of your home!!!

What about a pair of wireless speakers? A search on Google should bring some up.

I have a wirless set-up at home for the very same purpose. I use a Mac, upon which all of my 560 albums are stored. There are base stations (Apple Airport Express), in the bedroom and living room, attached to which are the amp / speakers. In the case of the bedroom it's a relatively inexpensive set of Bose Media Mate speakers. My Sony Ericsson runs Salling Clicker software (www.salling.com), which allows me to use the phone as a real-time remote control device for iTunes. And, if I want to add another room to the system, I just have to get another base station and speakers. Perfect!

Salling Clicker is available for Windows now, but I have no idea what you'd use in place of the Airport Express.
