i think the only reason we laughed, was because of a rather misplaced superiority complex toward our colonial cousins. As has been pointed out stupidity is a constant regardless of which country you come from. However i think the complete dumbing down of society in the UK isn't helping matters.

I think we all need to band together, hands across the ocean stylee, and laugh at the 50% or so of our collective populations who appear to be complete unmitigated morons.

now that is a brilliant idea. Perhaps pointing and laughing loudly at them when they are seen in public. Actually scrap that might wear yourself out with all the freaking morons there are about!

Firstly I apologise unreservedly to our American cousins; I started an earlier thread on this.

But ... I question the comments above about universal stupidity. If your read the article (and who wouldn't, I mean it would just be so STUPID to comment on it without having done so) it's clear that there is a very distinct difference in attitude between the young and the, ahem, more mature. So; either the population is becoming incredibly stupid incredibly quickly (within three generations - which would in itself cast considerable doubt upon the esteemed works of Mr Darwin), or it is in fact an education issue.

Which it can't possibly be, the standard of education has increased steadily under New Labour, as witnesssed by the year on year increase in GCSE pass rates. Oops, sorry, not allowed to make political comment in the P&P, unless its pinko propaganda.

You're right. The fittest in our sick and twisted world just happen to be the dumbest.
