Gatso, Massaged Figures?
Discussion
I thought you might like to read the following:
"Department of the Environment,
Transport and the Regions
Road Safety Research Report No.11....
....To give an overall picture based on larger numbers, four samples, totalling 3440 cases, were added together....
....Estimates of threshold speed above which cameras are activated varied little between survey sites (which all had 30 mph limits) or across time, the modal estimate being 35 mph and the next most frequent being 40 mph....."
The full report is here
http://www.uk-roadsafety.co.uk/Publications%20&%20Reports/effects_of_speed_cameras.htm
But I found it interesting that this report only shows the effectiveness of cameras at 30mph. So why all the cameras on motorways and A roads? Shouldn''t they be on where we have all been saying ie outside schools and built-up areas?
