What is it about TVR's?
Discussion
Before I bought my Tiv, a couple of years ago, I looked at several other marques - Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus, Noble and one or two others. Many of the other cars which I looked at / drove were more expensive and a little more glamorous. However, once I'd driven a TVR the decision became a "no brainer". They may not handle as well as other marques (particularly in the wet) and there is a constant debate about reliability, however the driving experience from the moment you "look at it" until the moment you "park it" is almost beyond description. However, I can't put my finger on what it is! It's almost an illogical addiction.
Are there any doctors in the house that could offer me an explanation?

So long as members of the general public admire them as unique or beautiful or both so long are we happy. We bask in the glory. If folks did not think them unusual I'm sure our devotion would soon evaporate for TVRs have too many quirks, irritations and limitations.
I actually dont give a damn what anyone else thinks about mine. I bought it because I liked it and it does exactly what it said on the label. Sometimes the extra attention can be a real pain in the arse especially when it’s the Chav brigade who haven’t seen one before.
Still they do look so good and boy do they go so well.
I can't quite explain it either.
I think it's because they have real character, like people. It's impossible to not have an emotional reaction to a TVR. The most interesting people we know are always the quirky ones, the ones with flaws. The flipside of genius is usually madness. Smart people often have 'no common sense'. TVRs are like that. "Certain marques" aim to score 10 out of 10 in every discipline you might conceive.
TVRs on the other hand unashamedly score 18 out of 10 in some disciplines ...and close to Zero in others. You'll either love that or hate it. A TVR ain't no average Joe, it's an opinion-polariser.
For me, experiencing the '18 out of 10' of a Griff 500 (twitching, bucking, wild performance) over-shadowed every other of its peers I was considering at the time. I bought one. Then came the Tuscan Challenge and the Cerbera. The Cerbera blew off the scale the needles that matter to me. Anything that more 'sensible types' might consider as weaknesses, I simply don't even register.
I simply don't give a flying fark if the door switches don't work one day. Sure, I could count on "certain marques" to always let me in and out. But when and while I'm in a Cerbera ....well, what can I say? Until you've clouted the loud pedal in Blackpool's Bomber you simply haven't lived.

Eh? I couldn't give a toss what the public think. Most of them don't know what it is anyway. If posing is all that drives you get a Porker or an Italian.

Cobblers. I loathe the attention. I hate having folk stare, esp when parked in service stations on the M-way or comming back to the car to see anybody round it or watching it. Why do I like my car? It looks good, goes fast, weighs little and is from the home town team. I liked the Griff for the same reasons + noise.
