Although I'm not convinced they do come from XJ6's

So that's why old TVRs boil over!

Thanks guys. Anyone had to replace theirs recently with a `modern` alternative that is a resonable match ?

If the actual casing's are okay and you're just having problems with quality of the contact they're making, then it is possible to prise the switches apart without breaking them and polish the contacts inside with metal polish. Just make sure to catch the springs when you open it!

Thanks Darren. Performance is ok but the plastic is getting quite brittle and a couple of the fixing lugs have snapped off recently.

I realise you said the plastic is getting brittle, but there is sometimes no need to open them.

I had problems wit my wiper motor switch. I took it to work planning on taking it appart but one of the guys stopped me.

My mate produced a can of electrical contact cleaner spray,,, blasted the inside with a tube,,, rocked the switch back and fore a couple of times and has worked perfectly ever since. The spray might have been Inibersol or something similar, it evaporates after doing its job, (no fire risk).

Hope this helps,,,

I have found one switch when sorting through old draws if that helps. It seems in good condition.
