Didn't realise you are nearly twice as likely to get bitten by a shark off the coast of Florida than the whole of Australia!

Without getting too philosophical, off the cuff I'll quip: Id rather be eaten and die, than loose my limbs and survive.

Why dont statistics report on limbs lost, rather than just deaths. Gives a much more accurate idea of how dangerous the waters are.

Is this because there are more people in the water?

We eat more of them than they do of us

www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/isaf/graphs.htm

only 7 fatalities out of 61 total attacks. I like those odds, you'd have to be the unluckiest person in the world to die of a shark attack.
