Currently engaged in major refurbishments ref Mr Bliarouts who else is painting thread.

So off I go to B&Q first day back after Christmas to stock up on supplies....... £72!!

Anyway ask about the 15% discount, only to be told sale ended yesterday. Grrr teach me to take note of adverts and closing dates.

4 days later go back in for something else and the 15% off sale is back on. 15% off paint plus the 15% off >£50 signs still there.

No joy at store so I complain to head office on the basis that this is no way to treat their customers and their response will help me decide on future sourcing of DIY products.

Cut a long mealy mouthed answer short it came to "two different promotions - stores have no advance notice of promotions - feck off"

So I have and WILL NEVER SET FOOT INSIDE B&Q WHOREHOUSE AGAIN.

Am I being unreasonable?

Yep, next question

If you want the sale discount, buy when the sale is on.

For £10? Depends how much more petrol it'll cost you to get to somewhere else, but I'd say its not worth stressing about.

For comparable items, I have always found Wickes to be cheaper than B&Q.

Had this with Alders.

Spoke to the manager and said "Either give me the discount or remove all the signs now or I am calling trading standards now."

Then took pictures of signs on camera phone and a cheeky one of the manager squirming.

Got my discout and all was well.

It's *always* '85% Off Everything Day' whenever Chuck Norris
shops at B&Q - maybe you should ask him for advice....

I hate them also, but find myself drawn towards the store magnet-like
when the DIY bug bites.
anyway.

A; go in at any time when it suits,

B; select any chosen line of stock, (but from the bottom of large display)

best judge for yourself how much monetary satisfaction/altitude of selected paint tin.

C; post resultant toys-from-perambulator type picture here

this creates a stress free result for nearly all past wrongs from, B & Q

Complete tosh, B&Q have a promotional calendar that extends some 18 months forwards and is set in stone some months before it goes in store. They're pretty much always running some promotion or other, depending on the season.
