Top Gear mag - supercar edition

Did anyone read Top Gear mags summer edition about supercars? In the article about the F50 vs the Formula 1 there are a couple of pictures of Tiff in his racing kit and in both of them the toe of his right boot has been cut off. Why?

Dont know if its the same thing but if you look and any pictures of James Hunt in racing kit you will see the toes cut off both racing boots, it is said that his big feet would not fit in the tight confines of a race car otherwise. Maybe Tiff also has big feet. Paul
