Hello
I have a Griffith 500 and am considering uprating the engine and brakes,
however are their any handling improvements to stop the backend going 360 or am i just stuck with a basic shock and springs upgrade?
thank you

Dont underestimate the difference shocks & springs and a geo check will make if you are running old Billy's, check the forums.
These people are the most reconmended: www.ridedrive.co.uk/
I have done one of their courses and found it very usefull. They write an artical in Sprint about car controll every month.

I had my Chim 450 upgraded last year. As far as the running gear is concerned I fitted new poly bushes throughout and a new set of Ohlin shocks all round.
The difference in its handling and ride is absolutely stunning and although quite an expensive route, several people who should know have suggested it's probably one of the best handling chims around now. The back end feels really well planted and stable. Break away at the limit is predictable and very communicative, and whereas before the upgrade the car felt more powerful than the chassis could handle, it now feels in need of a major power boost
There is plenty that can be done to these cars to improve their handling, especially if the current set up is tired and misaligned.

Incidental if i change the shocks and bushes on my non-PAS Griff, will this make the steering feel heavier, lighter, or no difference?
I've never heard of any adverse effects of changing bushes or suspension, most people say the car feels more planted.
Don't know about the engine, but have just fitted 300mm 4 pot Winwood calipers on the front. (Standard are perfectly good for road, but get hot on tracks). You may need to fiddle about with the spacing to centre the calipers with the disc, and I had to grind a bit of the bottom of the calipers to avoid snagging the wheel (there is plenty of ally to grind from). Call Tower View - they are very helpful.
To avoid 360, only thing I have found is to squeeze the throttle in gently, don't welly it (especially in greasy conditions).

Completely agree Rich, particularly if you change shocks and springs but I don't know anybody who wouldn't do a check after fitting and well worth a regular check anyway.

I think it is well worth the money for their day where you spend an hour or 2 on an airfield. It lets you really see what the car can do and its limits.
Well worth the money, it lets you get more out of your car and hopefully will save you from an expensive accident. They aren't condescending in any way, just giving lots of very useful advice based on your driving ability.
