Anyone added a skidplate to their exhaust?

Mostly for the people with modified suspension but surely all that 'chinging' over speedhumps etc has to take it's toll somewhere along the line.

I'm thinking of making one, anyone already done it?

try the S forum Corin, sure many of them may have tried as teh S series exhaust is seriously low..I take from experience

They seem to be putting up more & more vicious speedbumps around the place - it does feel a bit foolish having to take them in 1st gear at 0mph when you have a 160mph 5l sportscar. There are even some complete no-go areas for me now - my daughter's school has put in a speed bump that I can't get my Peugeot estate over!
So, Steve, are you advocating doing nothing to the underside as being the best option?

Adding a rally style skid which would protect the car actually decreases the clearance so it would hit more and more things.
I take them very slowly and I have raised the Griff's suspension back to more normal heights. On the 520 the road tyres give me reasonable clearance. The slicks then drop the car another 2 inches for track work.

The biggest threat is catching the sump plug and starting to undo it which is why I did the round magnetic version.

Given the choice of not being able to fit a complete rally skip plate and nothing at all... I'd take the nothing at all. Or put another way, I couldn't come up with anything that really did its job without causing more damage or effectively lowering the clearance even more.

Thanks for the input here, I think for the sake of a couple of mm added to the bottom of the car I'm going to fabricate something to take brunt of the scuffs as I'm sure one day it will eventually do too much damage.

What you really need corin is pneumatic Suspensions as on them American Bling type thing cars.

Approach speed bump, press buttton, dance you way over to the beat of the Goom Bay Dance Band clear bump press button again and on your merry way

Better still why not set up some pneumatic device that fires a cannon/steel pole type structure into the ground at force thus shooting the car metres into the air? You could then take speed bumps at normal, road going, speeds without fear of bumping your stainless bling setup.

I guess you'd have to be careful though, get the setup distribution wrong and you could instigate a pretty nasty roll.....
