Sadly it would appear that each and every one of them was returned to the house by a majority of the people in their constituencies who bothered to vote. We appear to have a 'democracy' where you are pretty much guaranteed a government made up of those least suited to govern.

vote them out at the next election.

if everyone one that then real democracy would prevail.

But alas, power corrupts all, so the next mob that get in will be no better, or worse still!

Unfortunately you appear to be in the minority because millions of idiots voted them back in.

Enjoy.

Always makes me laugh when people say we should pay our Politicians more to attract a better 'calibre' of candidate, when all we'd end up with in reality is the same bunch of self-serving Muppets on bigger salaries.

IMHO there needs to be a mass resignation/cull/ritual suicide in the Governement

The truth? Because we have no choice.

There are 3 catagories of people

A. The rich/powerful who pay very little tax and account for less than 1/10th of 1% of the population.

B. The mass middle class salary earners accounting for another 40% of the population by paying 80% of the taxes.

C. The non/low tax paying welfare classes accounting for the other 60%

Group A, use group B as a 'human shield' to protect them from group C, they do this by forcing ( under threat of state violence ) group B to had over approximately 1/2 of their income a large proportion of that going to group C in welfare payments.

The masses in Group C grateful for the generosity they perceive as coming from Group A are then happy to keep Group A in power.

Group B i) have to much too loose to risk resisting the demands of the state and in any case are not numerous enough to resist group C anyway.

With a bit of luck, another of the brain dead Socialist muppets will soon be gone. Apparantly, minister Kim Howells has admitted he signed off the sex offender as being fit to work within schools. Out, moron, NOW.

Interesting summary, especially when considered in the context of your "clearing off to Switzerland" thread. The proportions there are completely different, there are more big hitters and people on the ponse are very much in the minority. Maybe that is why things works there, more people giving than taking?

I can't take too much credit for the idea, it comes largely from a paper I was reading yesterday which was a discussion of the case for high tax welfare state being essentially immoral.

Part of the premise was that as the net tax paying salaried workers do not pay tax voluntarily, they must therefore be paying up because they are being compelled to do so. Ultimately the state would resort to physical violence if they refused.

I have become a fan of the idea of moving to a smaller state. Yes, they seem to work better.

Depends on what you call the minority. Personally I beleive the minority are ruling . To refresh the memory here's an article explaining who voted for who in the last election. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/05/07/ntory507.xml
Don't forget the minor point that Labour moved some of the electorial boundaries prior to the election thus ensuring overall victory, spokily enough. If that happened in a third world country we would be boycotting them now . If I had the time, patients and money I would drag them through the european court over this on principle.

It's a prett dire situation really. While it would be easy to blame anyone that voted Labour in at the last election, the fact is that at the time there was no credible alternative in the Conservatives or Lib Dems at the time. I'm just hoping that this changes before the next general election is called, otherwise things are going to get a lot worse over the coming years.

Gave up complaining.

Complained on PH.....but all I got was people complaining about the same thing.

So I wrote to Mr. Blair......twice.....and never got a reply.

So I left the country for good.

Problem solved and I'm very happy!

Don't think it is the size of the state that makes the difference, it is the logic behind their decisions that makes the difference.
A spokewoman for Berne was being interviewed on the TV, they had pulled her up on housing asylum speakers in substandard accomodation. Apparently they had an unused nuclear bunker in the side of a mountain and when they were forced to take their share they tidied it up and housed them there. They complained about the conditions and the fact they were getting less than other were getting in other countries. When the press her asked if she felt it was fair her answer was, it is clean and they eat well, if they can do better elsewhere let them go there, we didn't ask them to come here.
Can you honestly see anyone in this country saying that?

I'd have thought group B was a lot smaller than 40% of the nation (outside of PH and work, I know almost no-one who earns over £25k). Group C is an insult to low paid workers.

there should also be a 'Group D', possibly even a 'Group E'!

Indeed you did overstate your case a bit Axeman.

My own view is that a majority 'the working class' slave away to support the parasites 'the non working class'

I'll have a trawl though my folder later, I downloaded a .pdf from the NSO that actually gave the figures for the number of taxpayers in each band in the UK and what they paid.
