Appologies if this brings back painful memories for anyone, but is there a checklist anywhere that details what action to take in the aftermath of a relative's death ?

Obviously you first phone a doctor/ ambulance etc, but what next ? Priest/Undertaker/Bank/Insurance Co etc ?

Fortunately I've never had to deal with any of this, but at some point in the future I'll have to.

Sorry again if this is a bit grim.

After my Mothers death you learn things very quickly!
Also contact the Solicior DO NOT contact banks, waterboard, BT etc let them act for you as it will save confusion also the bank will instantly stop the account and you will be flooded with begging letters from the the standing orders (remember it is in THEIR best intrest to get their money) before the winding up of the estate.
Also I suggest that you find someone else to clear the property out as you will find it very hard to throw anything out and you will want to keep it all. Watch out for auction house clearance companies as they can be very harsh.
Remember anything within that house is part of the estate and if Mr Bloggs next door would like the cooker you should hand the money to the solictor.
