Sensible Policing

On my way back home after the weekend, I had been following a rather nice new Ford Mustang down the motorway, red with white stripes. I over took him, he over took me ect just looking at each others cars. leaving the motorway on to a very long (20 mile plus) quite dual carriage way, cruising at less than 90mph, I was behind him, it was dark at this point, noticed a car coming up the outside lane, dark coloured Volvo pulls along side, blue light comes on, just three flashes, then pulls away to the Mustang and does the same thing then drives off. This is what we want from our police force, we obviously were not doing anyone any harm so a gentle "behave yourselves lads" did every thing it had to. In this age of camera vans and civilian policing, its nice that at least our traffic police can take a sensible aproach to law enforcement.

That's all it takes, the BIB would gain far more respect for acting like this in such situations.
The problem is the majority of policing executed is generally based on the personality of the individual officer and whether his wife has left him or he's having a bad day.

May be they were on their way back to the station for the end of their shift and couldn't be bothered to pull anyone over let alone 2 nice looking cars.

Had the same happen to me by an umarked Vauxhall in the early hours on the M40. Long story but I knew he was folling me and slowed down enough that he gave me the lights/signs warning. After he whizzed off I drove a great deal slower. It worked.

Same thing happened to me twice last year on the M25. Flash of blue lights, pulls up alongside me, disapproving look, motioned to slow down and then off he went. All nice and friendly like
