any thoughts?

my mini is currently crock and is sitting forlornly at the side of the road at my mothers house..and since i'm going there in a few days time to pick up some bits and pieces I though: why don't I put the mini in the back of the transit at the same time?

kill two stones with one bird and all that..

for information the mini weighs 621kg in it's current state..

I seriously doubt you'd get it in - remember the van's wheel arches too. You could tow it

No, because of the wheel arches.

They fit the back of a Luton though...

shit.

I forgot about the wheelarches..

does anyone know a van hire company that has luton transits? or is it fairly common?

and the next question, will it f**k the van* up if I transport one 150 miles in it?

*what I mean is, will the hire company be aware of the knackered nature of their van immediately or will I get away with it?

Most van hire places will do either Lutons or their 7.5 tonne brethren.

If you can put wood down to hide the tyre marks I would advise it but as for load, no worries, Lutons are 3.5 tonne.

You could take a video of trying to get it in there, its bound to be entertaining!

Couple of ramps to clear the wheel arches and you'll be well away!

I would have though a transit could cope with the weight of a mini, although you might need to consider how you are going to fix it down so it doesn't come out on route!

Most van companies hire Lutons, try to get a LWB though.
How will you get it in? The tail lift obviously will help either supporting ramps or one end whilst you ans several others try to hold up the other.

Best thing to do if something F**ks up (tail lift most likely) is just to say it broke in use.
Either that or just stay quiet.

pretty much figured on handbrake (useless) and some chocks sellotaped to the tyres so they don't come loose

Ratchet strap attached to van and front subframe or specific car lashes I would suggest...

Perhaps a dab of superglue under each tyre. Oh, and some bubble wrap

that's not a bad idea, i've got a few of them...I wonder how wide a transit is in-between the wheel arches - a mini is not very wide is it? I might be able to squeeze it in between the wheel arches..

only had this idea 20 minutes ago and now it seems like a bad idea..
