I noticed that the dealership is "missing". I was wondering if anyone else put a deposit there?

Try call Lotus usa and see what they can do for you. They might have some info as I heard The mechanic that used to work for them is accepting Lotus of Orange County repair work so they may still be around in some capacity but not at a listed lot or office to clean up loose ends.

From what I heard, they were closed down on drug charges. That's just what I heard, however.

Yup...arrested for drug trafficing and money laundering. Called the DEA, and they're of no help. Tried calling the mechanic, but he won't return my calls. Owner is supposedly out on bail, but he's not returning my messages either. The phone receptionist at Lotus of OC said I was "wasting her time".

Guess I'm getting burned on this one....

Sorry to say, but looks like I'm going to have to go from the Elise to the RX-8....
This much trouble with the car before I even got it...can't imagine how much trouble if I do get it... :P

Wow, sorry to hear about your misfortune... it is a shame that we have to be nervous of such rediculous things happening with car dealerships. As for the b*tch receptionist, call her back and keep "wasting her time" - people like her don't deserve the right to breathe our oxygen, let alone act as if you were the one at fault.

I would definitely still get in touch with Lotus of USA. I don't know whether they can help directly or not, but they should be able to put you in touch with someone who is keeping track of the creditors.
