Car Alarm Carl ... to the Rescue

Due to a couple recent mishaps with the Griff (one flat-battery related, the other intelligence related)(I locked the keys in the boot) I've spoken to Carl Baker a couple of times recently and was (once again) impressed by just how much he knows and what a nice bloke he is.
Not only was he helpful and courteous in spite of the fact that he was clearly unwell (and it was a Sunday morning!) he told me exactly what I needed to do to get out of my 'predicament' and talked my through the process.
Service beyond the call of duty is a very rare thing - so I thought I should share my good experience and let people know if they have alarm/lock related woes - Carl is the man! (www.tvruk.tv/contactus.cfm)

I can only agree, Carl is a legend--saved me money and really knew his stuff.

I may have been the first (or one of the first) to post acclaims his way on here about 3 yrs ago. I got hold of him through a torturous route of alarm specialists, including META tech service all of whom could not help. He came up trumps first call and delivered. Since then he's helped (after a flat battery scenario) with instant advice and directions. Big up to the man.

Actually I have a remote boot release fitted by Carl. It would have been very easy - if I'd had my spare remote - but, sadly it was at home (and a 100 miles away).
...ahhh but the Modwise one that Mr FFG refers to is operated by a common or garden magnet!!
And if you get the Steve Heath header tank cap it has a magnet on top so if you lock the keys in you open the bonnet and use the magnet on that!!
Carl is a top man though - came up to Brum to replace my immobiliser, and we replaced the crap TVR fobs with ones that work. Nice bloke - shame he lives so far away.

So, anybody can open the boot if they have a magnet? Doesn't sound that secure to me.....?

So, if you're locked out and your keys are in the boot you just pull the bonnet release (then wait for the car to cool down) ......oh, can't get in as the keys are in boot! D'oh!

As FFG says it only works when unlocked as, im not sure, but I dont think you can lock the car (certainly not the Griff) with the boot open - I think the central locking device doesnt work. I may be wrong....anyway....Therefore if the car is unlocked you would be with it (I presume). Also you do have to get right up close and personal and locate the position the magnet is in.
Anyway it works a treat and at £27 or so it was a great mod.
