Insurance Help!!!!!

as im soon ot be getting a TVR i called my current insurance company, the best they can do is £2500 , are there any specialists out there? i will only be doing limited milage but am under 25

Run a search on the specific car thread - whichever it is, and this one, there are plenty of past comments: A Manning, etc etc, with all the opinions on each.

Sunninghill wanted £1k more than Elephant did for my policy (am 28). Priviledge & Swiftcover were even cheaper (about £700 p/a) but wouldn't insure due to alloys & sports exhaust.
Elephant got the business for £780 (inc £400 xs with 6 years protected ncb) - not bad considering age + living in nasty part of London

None of the many, many other insurers came close to that lot

Im with Peart - they have done me proud and iv also insured a second (non TVR) vehicle with them. Their deal was £600 cheaper than the worst other quote I received. I will give them first and last shout when its up next

I bought my Chim when I was 23, I insured it with Tesco for just over £1000. I am currently with Sunninghill and have been for 2 years, they are very good and I have not had any trouble with them.

Privilege were best for me (27, 5 years protected NCB, Sussex) but were an utter PITA over any mods etc. I therefore went with Manning (about £40 more expensive), who have been superb and even (shock horror) seem to understand cars!

Expect quotes like that, I have just turned 25 and brought a tusc, I pay £916 with privilege. 12 mths ago when i rang around best quote £4782. Just try everyone. I found the specilists miles off privileges quote.

Gone with Pearts for my second year of ownership of a 4.3 griff, on a 5'000 miles a year policy ,can't remember the exact figure but around the £400.00 mark , the milage is no problem as only covered 4'250 in the last 18 months, as from your other posts you may be going down the 5.0 griff route when i was looking at the begining most places were around £300.00 more for a 5 litre,

its knowing where to look though sadly i dont know whos best, ive now got a quote for £1750 which is a bit more acceptable, i cant be that bad of a risk though, ive got no claims and been driving for a while now, just seems most people dont want to know about Tvr insurance and those that do dont want to know until im 25 , looks like i will just have to pay a high premium.

you could try Adrian Flux insurance went with them for my first year that was around £500.00 with no, no claims as it was on my second vehicle, also another good think to check when you buy a car is that the alarm immoberliser is a cat1 this is the only way some will insure high performance, i was caught out this way the first time as the griff had the factory fitted K9 alarm which is not thatcham approved, this then set me back another £400.00 for the alarm, also being a member of the tvrcc got me £50.00 of the insurance, am round the inlaws at the mo, when i get home will put the number up for you

AF quoted me £2700! obviously not someone they wanted to do business with

You wont get insurance from any TVR specialist until you have had one for a year (or an equivalent performance car)

I ended up with Norwich Union - dead simple and believe it or not the price went down when I told them I had upgraded brakes ! Of course it went back up again when I told them about the adjustable shocks ....

Ok Im a lot older than you (38) but with only 1 years no claims I reckoned the £700ish that it cost me for fully comp me and the Mrs with 6k a year was damn fine. And half the price of the next nearest quote !

one other little point, you could try moving house to get the price down when insuring my audi coupe that was £425.oo then moved three miles down the road and got £60.oo back.

Tesco's. £600 on the Cerb. 31 years old. Sunninghill for the 2nd year of cover if we have had no claims.
