I won't think that other than in small towns that an employer would even know what sort of area a certain postcode related too.

Generally I wouldn't say that a post code has any bearing on the character of a person, and therefore wouldn't affect their employability. People live where they can afford to, be it in a nice big mansion with a desirable post code, or a council estate.

Postcode does affect your ability to get decent medical care since our National (sic) Health Service is actually a Regional Health Service.

Likewise with State Education.

However, I can't see how any employer would be in the least bit interested where a potential employee lives, so long as it is not "no fixed abode".

I moved to Ireland a good few years ago and went about applying for jobs for which I was rather overqualified. I never got a reply from quite a few applications and found out later that my flat was located in what was considered an undesireable post code in Dublin.

Apparently any application from my area was binned without further action taken, not even a rejection letter.

Turns out that people would often use Dublin 4 or 6 addresses of friends to get around this problem. I had no idea...
