Has any one been this year? I'm off tomorrow (well Thurs but I need to get some pre boat show shopping in first ) and have heard that its not great this year and not really worth going.

Would appreciate some input so i can decide whether or not exel will be getting my business or not.

Thank You

I went there on the press/preview day and didnt think it was as busy as previous years. I also felt there was little new to get excited about.
Certainly didnt come away with many brochures!!

My dad says it's the same as it ever was. Saying that he is there for the duration and can't stand the proliferation of Bavaria style cheapy plastic stuff.

I always find it interesting especially seeing what you can blag from the the stalls
Most have complimentary guinness passes available if you pester enough............

At least if you go on Thursday it is the 'traditional' yachters night at the Guinness stand

I used to amaze my dad with the amount of crap I blagged each year..just hasn't been the same for a few years. I noticed last year it was a bit quiet and no good deals agogo...

Not sure if I'm going to bother going now, only needed some shoes and a coat (and mebbe anything else that takes my fancy) and those I can easily get online.

Hmmm...what to do...

2 birds, one stone. Thanks chaps.

Tbh the boat show is beginning to lose its charm - before it used to be a load of yachties going out for the day and now it just more and more holiday compnies trying to sell over priced holidays (and whats the point if you have your own boat??) Oohh i'm becoming synicali in my old age

I'm going with my Dad, uncle and cousins on Friday - been going for years, though we do miss Earls Court, it's such a trek over to Excel I suppose the advantage is that there are proper floating exhibits like HMS Grafton
The 'pub' in the Inland Waterways area that sells real ale is good, though we'll always have a pint in the Guinness tent, for old times sake

Have we been missing out on free Guinness all these year?! As it's probably £3 per pint now... how do you get these beer tokens?

That was next to our stand which we were manning on Saturday. I had never been before so found it pretty enjoyable. Think I'm going to get myself a zapcat.

Think carefully...I don't think they'll let you park a yacht in the Don.
