I for one won't miss him, or his far-left politics going back to the early 80's, he and his ilk are partially responsible for the likes of Livingston and Blair, only to poetically discover that they were bigger charlatans than him. I suspect that it was only after these Epiphanic realities came home to roost did he decide he had enough of the sycophantic whorehouse that is the house of commons, that, and being mugged by four scumbags in his ‘manor’ whom on any other day he would have championed as victims of post Thatcherism policies, was likely a reality check that not even a denialist like him could not countenance.

End of an error.

At least his undertaker won't be John Major.

Didn't agree with his politics but he was an entertaining character. Shame that he's passed on before his time was due.

He certainly held his views and wasn't afraid to speak his mind - all too rare in what is so called 'modern politics. Admired him as an individual and often his views.

But more sadly is his death before a decent age - somthing that stuck home when my Dad said at his 60th a few months ago that he was already older than Robin Cook had lived.

Another character lost - RIP

Very sad to hear about this. A real character, of which we need more in British politics instead of the dull clones that turn people off the whole process.

Something along the lines of:

"If John Major were an undertaker, folks would stop dying."

Maybe he'd now be wishing John Major had become an undertaker.

Everyones death is sad for those that are left behind i.e. the family.

Pity the NHS, education, law and order is in such a mess. It is a good job he managed to get fox-hunting banned, though, eh?

Anyone remember that clip off the Adam Boulton show where Banks threatened to smack the presenter in the mouth? Nice.

Not that I watch these things, but that magazine tv programme on BBC on sundays.... well it had Tony Banks on it talking about exercise and his personal gym he has at his house (not as huge as it might sound). Seemed fit and healthy on the tv programme.... strange - you never can tell I suppose....

Is he the chap who said 'thats for the miners' once his anti-hunting bill had been passed?
