my first bm.................
Discussion
hello, I have just sold my v6 mazda mx-3 (lovely engine/chassis, but woefully shortgeared) 70mph= 4100rpm.........pass the nurofen........ and picked myself up a 1994 e36 325i coupe. First impressions, woah rear wheel drive.......and stunning engine. I will post some pics soon, once the sun decides it wants to pop out again
Thanks.
Have always liked the 3 series as well, but found this one first.
They are supposed to be pretty reliable.
Have had the water pump in mine go, was lucky and managed to save the head.
From what i have been told, make sure they get regular servcing.
Mines on 136000 miles and still has enough power to make me grin everytime i use it. Still feels tight and carved from solid, even my g/f is impressed and she is not interested in cars.
Try the BMW car club www.bmwcarclub.co.uk
Seems to be a lot of really good info on there.
Hope you enjoy it.
Cheers
Andy
PS The straight sixes do sound so good.

think it may have to be swansea wwwwooooaaaaahhhhhhhh thats what rear wheel drive is like on ice.......WHAT a different experience to front wheel drive?????? i thought the mazda had a good chassis but this thing is awesome, while i was playing in an empty tesco car park, well i was bored.....i decided to try this oversteer lark and was very suprised how controlable this thing is, should have bought one years ago
My E36 3251 has done 136000 miles. I've done over 100,000 of them.
Faults so far:
airbag light came oilln - expensive module from BMW dealer
Driver's window glass fell into door. Replaced a couple of nylon pegs with over the phone advice from local specialist.
Horn ring on steering wheel squeaks - it still does, not worth expensive repair.
Driver's seat squeaks.
Sunroof cables rattle
That's it. All the rest of the costs have been 'normal maintainance'. I always use good quality brake disks and pads, genuine filters. Never miss an oil change. Replace brake fluid and coolant every two years.
It goes like a train, it had new suspension bushes, and bilsteins all round at 100,000 and handles really well. Still enjoy it, still a quick car.
If I could afford it, I'd replace it with a 330. But since i haven't the cash and won't borrow money, I'll be keeping the old 325i for some time.
