Hadn't realised what a cushy number these barstewards are on!

"Mike Brown, London Underground Chief Operating Officer said:

"A year ago a deal was reached which was hailed by both sides. London Underground is sticking to that agreement.

This strike is completely unnecessary. This deal gives tube station staff a 35 hours working week and 52 days holiday a year. It was agreed by the RMT over a year ago and hailed by them as ground breaking. When put to a vote their members backed it thirty-to-one. The new staff rosters have been agreed at 90 per cent of stations. There will be no job losses and no compromise on safety."

What exactly are they complaining about?

Time for a career change I think!

Tossers.

I'm self employed and took 10 days off last year.

Got to pay for it all somehow......

Well I "officially" work 37.5 hours a week, but I doubt I do much less that 50 most weeks.

I get 33 days Annual Leave plus 8 Bank Holidays.

Plus we don't go on strike because we realise the effect it would have on people.

Ken needs to do to the Tube workers what Reagan did to the air traffic controllers. He won't, of course.

Seconded. This kind of thing really fecks me off. I do 60+ hours a week, spend most of my weekends travelling to get to our other offices, and took maybe 7 or 8 days holiday last year.

What sort of money do they make?

I really do resent this 'oooh, let's strike and the government will pick up the tab' attitude amoungst the public service workers. You knew how much you were getting paid going into the job you cretins, so stop holding the general public hostage to satisfy your greed.

Utterly intollerable.

And I'm a public sector worker, so please don't assume we are all like that.

I certainly don't get £35K!

Just to clear it up, I believe it's the drivers who are on that sort of wage. The station staff (who are striking today) are on about 20-25.
Still workshy barstewards though!

I had no trouble getting to work todaY, the only indication of a strike being the closed ticket offices.

yeah I thought that when the firefighters struck(gr??) it was a bit off as they knew the rate of pay before they took the job on. surely therefore that was an acceptance of the going rate and made it unacceptable to strike? fair enough campaign for higher pay by all means but to strike is extreme IMHO

The only time I do a 35 hour week is when I go into the office for 3 days!

Second strike of the year and we are only 9 days into it.

So come on Ken, justify the recent price hike for using our antiquated, dirty transport system, operated by your workshy 'hostage taker' buddies!!

here's a thought: I went from zone 2 to zone 6 today and it cost me £3 as opposed to the £2.10 it cost me on december 30th! bloody commie git red ken! it's not the 90p that bothers me it's more the massive percentage increase! and for some reason a socialist is trying to make life difficult for those that have least money! because obviously those with money are not affected as those without...boils my piss, it really does!

Get an Oyster card, the fare would have been £1.70

On the upside though, due to the tube software being a bit silly you can go from deepest essex to heathrow for 70p (or whatever interzone travel is these days, £50 no doubt)
