Hello,

Quick question from the USA. I am thinking about shipping my car over to the UK and drive it around Europe. My insurance agent mentioned that I needed to get insurance over there. IF I get insurance in the UK - does it cover Europe....and maybe other parts of the world?

Cheers

Stephen, IMHO you may be able to get UK based insurance cover including Europe (but it will most likely be limited to the European states - see below). You'll probably need shop around for cover in other European countries. Also don't forget that we drive on the correct side here in the UK!

Austria
Belgium
Cyprus
Czech Republic
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Ireland
Italy
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malta
The Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
Sweden
United Kingdom

Thanks - I am English but have been living over here for 10 years. When I come home its fine driving on the other side of the road - except at night coming to traffic lights after a pint at the pub - then it goes a bit pear shaped...

What about Turkey? - is that not in the EEC yet? I was planning on going there too.

Cheers

Not yet. On waiting list. Probably some years away as several other countries don't really want them in. Then there is the Cyprus problem, and now bird 'flu too. Apart from which the roads are crap and the traffic stands still in the cities.
