Bewleys is ok stayed there a few times, its close to O'Connel Street and right near Grafton Street just over the O Connel Bridge, the Grafton Hotel just off Grafton Street is also a good one, the Hairy Lemon pub over the road from it is good for a laugh too! The staff at the Grafton are top notch!

If you like something a little more contemporary, we stayed here;

It's away from the horrid bustle that is Temple Bar.

For a restaurant as well I definitely recommend Eliza Blues. Fantastic food and a great atmosphere on the banks of the Liffey, right opposite the Millenium Bridge.

There's a very good bar in the cellars of the Merrion Hotel (good hotel), but you want to go to a pub or two, not a hotel bar.

Now that looks nice

strangely its about £100 cheaper to book it via Expedia than it is to book direct

Fully intend hitting a pub or 5 need a good hotel bar for a nightcap or 3

Guiness is supposed to..........................

Go for the Merrion. There is a garden in the middle. One summer morning when I was staying there, I was walking through the glass-walled corridor to the front bit of the hotel with a duck and her brood of half a dozen ducklings waddling along in front of me down the corridor. That's Ireland for you.

A bit too stereotipical but how or never. The Merrion is a great hotel. I'm too drunk to comment further but I'll give it a go tomorrow if you want. If you want places to see along any lines, give me a shout.

I can recommend the Morrison: www.morrisonhotel.ie/ which has a great bar and restaurant, and apparently the Clarence (owned by U2) is very good. I didn't stay there but had an outstanding dinner in the restaurant.

Recommend Camden court hotel. Very nice rooms/food and with the bleeding horse pub next door. 5 mins drive from temple bar and within walking range of loads of pubs for daytime drinking. Bleeding horse=

I second also the Morisson hotel.

Also bang on in the city center, close to Grafton Street and very snazzy for a good price is the Fitzwilliam hotel www.fitzwilliam-hotel.com

As for a Merrion Hotel, it is great, but it is classed as one of teh best hotel in the world, expect an eye watering bill the next day......

I've stayed at the ASton Hotel a few times. fairly basic but in a stylish kind of way. you dont get much more than the room somwehere for brecky and a nice lounge bar but the cost is very reasonable.

it also has the advantage of backing on to temple bar !!!(river at the front)

for me the location and the cost were spot on..

it doesnt have its own parking but there is a multi story behind it that they have special rates for

cheers

Ouch, only just saw your reply (I think I was away myself). I suppose it could happen anywhere though. Not a particularly good response from the hotel, and probably as you said, not alot that can be done .

Hope you had a good time all the same .

Don't stay at the North Star. That's a proper shithole! I've also stayed at Clontarf Castle and the Herbert Park hotel. Both very nice but maybe not central enough for you.

Have stayed at the Westbury before. Posh and central (Grafton Street) and if anyone famous is in town, they are likely to be staying there. Not cheap.
