Why don't they go strap themselves to some aircraft instead? Perhaps a plane carrying hair straightners from Taiwan or something that could easily go by boat or train?

These green people wouldn't know ecologically friendly if it bit them on the arse and smacked them in the face!

Going after 4x4's is about as much use for the environment as telling people to hold their farts in to reduce methane impact on the atmosphere!

But don't our bovine friends cause more damage to the environment through farting than the aircrafts do ?

Absolutely, planes don't fart... do they?

Precisely - Greenpeas just remind me of the students who'd leap at any excuse to paint up a banner and join a protest march, yet don't bother to research quite exactly what it is they're waving a banner for.

No to Britain joining the war in Iraq? Well, I didn't agree with the war but I'd concede that if the Americans were going in ready or not someone needed to be there to tug on their lead when Dubya's fingers got twitchy over the red button.

Protect the innocent Palestinians against the evil Israeli oil-baron terrorists who are in league with Bush? Well what about those Palestinian terrorists who spend their time blowing themselves up in Israeli marketplaces on a daily basis? I don't fancy supporting them any more than I do Al-Qaeda.

Same goes for 4x4s. These people will protest at everything, they like the idea of this word 'environmentalism' as it struggles for space between Marxism and the haze of Weed in their overstretched brains, and jump on the first thing they see. 'What's that? Some American truck-derived 4x4s with V8s are dangerous and produce large emissions and use loads of fuel? Right, I'll chain myself to my neighbour's Freelander TD4'.

The reason why they never get round to protesting at airlines and Chinese factories is because they can't be bothered finding out what they do.

Cocks the lot of 'em:

Greenpeace press release said:

In stark contrast is the European car of the year, the Toyota Prius which does 55 miles to the gallon in the city

Now I dont know if anyone has a Prius, but I do know someone with a gen-2 version. He was getting a minimum of 35 but importantly MAXIMUM of 40-42 around town. Only on a run at legal motorway speeds did the economy jump to around 48-52 - but not on the full tank. Yes its good, but its real benefit is emissions and consistent economy.... You cant just quote the manufacturers like that - they would never lie would they????

Greenpeace press release said:

A recently conducted Greenpeace survey in the UK showed massive support for increased road tax on gas-guzzlers. Of those surveyed on average between 97 and 99% wanted higher taxes for cars that spew out high amounts of climate damaging Co2.

Maybe, but you clearly didnt explain to these people that their 5 year old Ford Mondeo 2.0 they use is actually bad on emissions and Co2 and in fact they would need to drop to a Fiesta 1.1 to not pay any more on taxation..... Or even worse, that 15 year old Pug they run (cos its good for the environment to not throw anything away) is actually worse than 3 x Mondeo 2.0 in the first place....

And I havent even got to the cows, aircraft, trains and buses yet....

Its all rubbish.... come the revolution.... well I know who will be first against the wall....

Oh and about 70% of all Landrovers ever made are still on the road - unlike some 8 - 10 year old euroboxes which are scrapped.

If you go to the Greenpeace website there is an opportunity to send a hate letter to Ford railing against them producing 4 x 4s, I erased their letter and sent this to em :-

"To Ford,

Keep up the good work chaps, If any of these greenpeace idiots had a braincell they'd realise that hybrid cars are only efficient in one area and not very efficient in another, apart from that electricity is not free, it comes from coal burning power stations.

Thanks to their aggressive stance against nuclear power we are now in a position where, even if we were to start building them now, we will not have enough clean burning power plants to provide energy for our future and instead of fannying around with wind enrgy we could have been concentrating our energy on a realistic source for all our futures.

Still, never mind, lets blockade and attack anyone who excercises their freedom of choice to drive a 4x4, that'll make us all better off wont it"

let's see if I get my windows broken

Or maybe the only people who respond to greenpeace surveys are greenpeace members...

Not forgetting that production of glass is one of the most energy consuming processes around....

So by being petty minded little twerps they are making the environment worse...

They really are the lowest low of the scum on the bottom of a turd which just happens to be stuck to the bottom of your worst, nastiest pair of shoes....

Apart from the fact that CO2 doesn't damage the environment but does feed trees and crops, those wonderful ecofascists at Greenpeas might like to publicise another survey result, this one from Fiends of the Earth

If the Government could do just one of the following. Which would you prefer?
Fuel tax cuts 75.56 %
Public transport investment 24.44 %
14908 votes have been cast

That's a representative sorta number of votes isn't it? So let's cut fuel tax and get guzzling more gas, there are poverty stricken third world children who are dying for more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to feed their crops.

Off topic thread hijack sort of - sorry.

But was watching the Top Gear Veyron "race" again on videothe other night.

Found it amusing that they included shots of that factory chimney belching out loads of goodness knows what, certainly wasn't just steam, just as Clarkie had the Bugatti well stoked up on some autoroute. At the time thought that the message would go right over the heads of Greenpeas.

Excessive amounts of CO2 cause the "green house effect", i believe that is a scientific fact?

We should be attacking the fact they are pinning the cause of this CO2 primarily on 4x4's and other large vehicles, this is the disingenuous bit.
