Opinions of the masses please -

After suffering severe incompetance and loss of service from a certain mobile company that I have 3 complaints still outstanding with, and after escaping from them to have EVEN WORSE customer service from another mobile phone company that started life selling carphones from a warehouse, I was wondering if there are any recommended people out there.

I want a phone with a reasonable deal, but more than anything I just want to be able to make and recieve calls without sticking my finger directly into my local transmission antenna wearing a hat made of tin foil, and I would like actually recieve my bill at least once every 6 months!

Not having to call an indian call centre will also definately swing my vote.

Checked the web but would appriciate some personal experiences of who to choose / avoid - I have to choose by Monday.

Cheers

I've been with Orange for eons and never had a problem at all. Seems they can get a decent selection of phones.

Ditto.

However you'll hear horror stories and praise for all of them on here.

My advice? Change every 12 months

It does depend to a certain amount where in the country you live, Here in the Saarf I have a Work Phone on Orange (Which is Poo) and my own phone which is on Vodafone (and is not Poo)

In terms of signal I think (and this is personal opinion) that Vodafone is best, However for Customer Service I have heard that they are somewhat 'but we are Vodafone and who do you think you are?' I have heard that Orange Customer Service is good.

So in short best signal does not always mean best customer service, I would rather have good signal and never have to phone customer service.

Been with 02 for 7 years and i'm leaving them in June when my contract is up.

Had enough! They can't seem to get my bill correct, last years upgrade was miss sold to me and they still can't seem to get me on the right contract even now.

The worst bit is that they now charge for calls you make to them!

I'm off to either Vodafone or Orange

Had Orange pay as you play for years and never a seconds bother other than that they aren't that great on reception in the area i now live.

Grew up in October and got a contract with Vodafone. They have been excellent so far, can't fault them from my experiances and their customer service has been great with dealing with the stupid questions new contract people like me have. i got Stop the clock which means an 18mth contract but means that between 7pm and 8am you can talk for upto an hour and only pay for 3mins 500mins per month, 500txts £50pm, fisrt 6mths £25.

Only bad thing that i have heard was that g/f got a recycled No and had to change it after a few days as she was getting calls for some bloke!

Ironic, really, as I would give Next, Npower, Barclaycard and many others 500 free sms a month to NOT send me paper bills

Took out a contract 10 years ago with Cellnet ( now O2 ). Never had any issues, and when I got a company phone 4 years ago, the wife took over my O2 contract. Probably not the cheapest deal we could have, but both customer service and signal coverage in our area is good, which is more important to her ( because I still pay the bill! )My Company phone is Vodaphone, which is also very good, especialy as I don't pay the bill!

Was with o2 for 12 months and they were okay - not brilliant, but no real issues. Am with Vodafone now, and would recommend them highly.

Another vote for Orange. I manage over 50 handsets for my company, I have users spread throughout the Scottish borders and central belt and never get any complaints about coverage. Whenever I have a problem with a handset (lost, stolen, faulty etc...) it's replaced promptly and when I call customer services it's always a Brit that answers. Being a business user may help though.

Mrs Jameson and I have both our phones on the same Orange contract, have had for 5+ years now.

No problems; upgrade phones always arrive extremely promptly and as described, roaming abroad (Ireland, Europe and the USA) has been flawless and not too stunningly expensive, I've endlessly twiddled with the tarriff and I've only ever not got a signal (with the usual exceptions for being in the middle of nowhere) in my local pub.

Result!

I was with Orange for eight years or so (apart from a brief flirtation with Vodaphone). I've now gone over to O2. When I got my last phone there was a massive cock-up and I ended up signed up to two non-existent phones. It took six months and impending legal action against Orange and the supplier (a subsidiary of the warehouse that sells carphones - quelle surprise!) before the accounts were cancelled. I still haven't been refunded for the bills I had to pay in the meantime - I even had one jumped-up telephone monkey threatening to credit blacklist me if I didn't pay the bills for phones I'd never had and never ordered. No one at Orange seemed to give a shit until they were about to be dragged to court.

Just another side to the coin to consider...

Sadly enough Judas I got to this stage, although luckily for me I got a bit further and got to deal with the higher complaints department in the Warehouse of Car Phones...

If you are still having problems, PM me and I will share all the information that got me thusfar and sucessfully killed the contract.
