I'm currently on day 5 of my new years resolution to stop smoking and I hate it.
I love smoking.
I also find that, curiously, being a non smoker makes me want to kill or maim 20-30 people per day for trivial reasons.
Even after 5 days I notice that most people on the train stink of shit which I was previously blissfully ignorant of.
In addition to this I was expecting a whole new feeling of self-righteousness to envelop me with a warm glow but it hasnt.
I simply envy smokers-the lucky, happy, calm bastards.

That's normal, whether you are trying to quit smoking or not.

Simple. Keep smoking but have an Innocence smoothie once a week. They balance eachother out didn't you know.

I agree BSR - do the above and I'll spend all my winnings on the Aibo you want.

And I won't let you see it or touch it.

Believe it or not, on New Years day I thought 'I'm turning into Jag-Lover'.
I recommend smoking to cure that temper of yours!

I join the "stop smoking" group run by my doctors surgery next week. Wednesday at 6:30pm marks my last cigarette.

Thats going to be nearly my rant, word for word, and my experience when I managed to quit for a fortnight last year. To make things even more interesting, my only social contact with other humans at work is during my frequent smoke breaks so I will no longer see or speak to most people I know here... Great...

That occured to me but I assume that first I would need to become homosexual in order to drink the said beast. Its all an unpleasant dilemma!

Why are you stopping?
If it's because you want to then fight your way through it.
If it's because of external pressure...bollox to em....smoke and be damned and smile while ya do it.

You know you want to

I have found that NiQuitin CQ lozengers work great for me, got them on prescription after visiting the 'smoking nurse' (!!!) last year, not smoked since, and I did LOVE to smoke, tried the gums and patches before with little effect, but for me, the lozengers genuinlly worked, and I though I was one of the smokers who would never quit!

To tell the truth its because aged 31 i am the most unhealthy person I know and lately I've started to really feel it. 18 years of 20 per day plus 10 years of take-aways 5 nights per week combined with literally no form of exercise has turned me into a fat tired coughing cnt.
Sto;pping smokin is probably the biggest step I can take towards feeling human again!

I'm about a quarter of the way into Alan Carr's Easyway book and so far today I've had 2 smokes instead of the usual 8 or so by this time of day. Book's a bit repetitive and very evangelical, but I know loads of people that have quit by it.

I feel your pain at 29. ANd don't forget those Saturday nights when 20 turns to 40 either...

I'm going at it the other way though. New g/f likes to swim 3 times a week so i shall be joining her for that. She is also a stunner in the kitchen and makes all sorts of healthy type meals. hell, she's even stopped me dodging the salad bowl!

Plan to cut down on the smokes but not to stop just yet.

Oh and plan to seriously increase the amount of sexercise I get
