No problem with money back if the track is closed guys.

Brands will treat and sweep the track if there is ice, so it will not be an issue.
If there is another situation, such as fog or snow that causes the track to be closed, an alternate date or a full refund will be offered
Dear Owen and Jools,
The point I think you need to emphasise is that the NOC track day at Brands REPLACES what would have been the first 2006 Noble factory organised track day, usualy held at rockingham.
If chaps realised that there will not be a factory organised track day for 2006 and this is their only oppotunity to enjoy a Noble themed day you might get a few more signing up.

Quite right, and a point that must be emphasised. The factory will NOT be doing a Rockingham day for at least the first half of next year.I really hope it goes well, but I won't be there as already mentioned (I will be at Daytona 24hr race that w/end). Even so, I probably wouldn't have attended this time.
Combination of reasons:
1.January is not a good time - bl**dy cold.
2.Attending on a weekday instead of a weekend is more of a problem for me.
3.Though I realise other people prefer more regular events, the idea of an annual factory-supported "big" event is more of a draw and far more appealing to me. Devalues it if they happen all the time. Logic says while one annual event can get 70+ owners, two events would get a smaller sign-up, three or four events only likely to get around 20 takers each time. The hard core of maybe a dozen will attend everything but the rest of us won't turn out that often.
All the above is just IMHO and I appreciate there are very good contra arguments to everything I've said.

Particularly point 2 as the 29th is a Sunday !
I understand the points you've made, but just to clear up; there will only be two big NOC days each year. One will be more southernly based, the second will be more northernly based. They will NOT be organised on a weekday. It is unlikely that the factory will organise their own days anymore, choosing instead to add their 100% support to days organised by the NoC.
I'm starting to think the end of Jan is a bit early too. I'll go for easterish next time !
Sorry you can't make it, maybe catch you at the next one
cheers
O.

Jan is quite early but being a hardcore NOC member (
) I am fine with that.
I think that April/May and Aug/Sep/Oct (at latest) would be best to allow for more daylight and the higher chance of a nice day.
Otherwise I think what Obes and Jools and the rest are doing is really great and can't wait for the 29th, and indeed the next one too.
Just trying to avoid getting MOD-FEVER!! (which is likely to happen if I get on the dyno!)

Hi Guys,
I'm coming on the 29th to Brands but won't be taking the car on the track (not good enough and no track sump). I was in Mole Vally the other day and they said the total cost for a track day sump is about 2k. This probably means I won't get it done. As a novice, is a couple of laps a year on short corner tracks like brands realy going to harm the engine?

Hold on there! The factory are (were?) offering a special price on a retro-fitted track-day sump (for around half that £figure) that came out of interest SPECIFICALLY in recent Noble track days. MV should know this and should have referred you to the factory. Get ringing mate!
Re track experience, this is NOT a race and we bring a wide-range of track skills with us (fair to good to blimey!) so don't be put off! Re the short track, it'll keep you busy all the way round, is fairly fast and challenging but not offputtingly so - so long as you listen at the briefing and start slow and building up your confidence you'll be grinning all day and evening!
Re the strength of the engine - it is a Ford after all and this is what the car was built for!
Thanks Rob,
Was going to do a training day with 1st Lotus (Andrew Walsh) before taking the car on a track.
Did this day with the elise and afterward had a lot more confidence with the car. Andrew (If I remember correctly) helped develope the suspension for the Noble so should be good.
Are you saying it's too much of a risk to do a few laps without the track sump?
Thanks
Martin

Martin, the problem is long, sweeping bends (the short Brands circuit doesn't have the longest but could cause a problem) where the oil is forced the the outside of the sump and is not picked up and pumped around to where it should be - causing a lack of lubrication.
AFAIK, the factory MAY have an issue should a car (under warranty) fail this way so they recommend a trackday sump (this is an enlarged sump with baffles (upright walls) in the base that hold the oil in channels instead of sloshing it to the outside - others will be able to provide a more technically accurate description!
Bottom line is for peace of mind (and to save on a c. £12,000 engine replacement) get one fitted!

Rob,
My engine failure which was a significant contributor to the current track day sump design was NOT killed on a long sweeping bend.
Do NOT track your car without the sump, it just isn't worth the risk.

Dear All,
Beleive me, and my engine was the first to fail, and Jools and Justin know I have some knowledge of this problem, DO NOT TRACK WITHOUT THE TRACK DAY SUMP. This engine is prone to oil surge under high G cornering and its doesn't make a fig of difference whether its long short sharp or open. Cornering forces will uncover the oil pickup and you'll be running the engine momentarily on air bearings. You cannot rely on the oil pressure gauge for warning as this is only reporting what's already happened and neither can a mechanical gauge respond rapidly enough. Momentary oil pressure loss will not be indicated. I say again, DO NOT TRACK WITHOUT THE SUMP, unless of course you want to drive around at 30mph and we all know how easy it is to resist the temptation to go just that little bit faster!
