I increased the economy of my car by about 15% today!!! I normally get about 28 mpg on a particular trip. Managed to get over 32mpg today on the same trip !
It is something that my wife has invented. Cracking idea and like all good ideas it is very simple.
She had made a trifle. It was placed in the rear of our car, this meant no hard cornering, no hard acceleration etc....
So fill your car boots with trifle.

Over 25 years ago I used to work as a hospital porter. In the grounds of the hospital where I worked was a day centre for psychiatric patients. One of the porters jobs was to deliver lunch there from the hospital kitchen. Food was put in box shaped insulated metal containers about the size of a dustbins known as hot-locks, which we put in the back of a minivan. A 20 year old budding Stig, with childhood recollections of the '66 Monte Carlo would then see how quickly he could get it to its destination.
On one memorable occasion I was given a wooden bakers tray containing the puddings. 3 dozen individual cream trifles in cardboard tubs. This was plonked on top of the hot locks in the back of the van and off I went.
Half way around the route, and oblivious to the fragility of my cargo, I was concentrating on extracting every last ounce from the van's tired tired A series engine, when some poor unfortunate with a freshly bandged eye, blindly stepped out of the opthalmic day clinic into my path. As I locked the wheels in order to avoid him, the bakers tray hit the back of my seat with some force and 3 dozen fresh cream trifles tried to exit via the windscreen.
We never did get the smell out of that van.
