HPI Check?

I'm collecting a "new" car on Friday ('81 Porsche 928). Haven't HPI'd the car yet, is it really worth it? Especially given that the HPI website mentions only since 1983????

If it's been listed as written off, stolen etc... since then, it'll report that.
Most will also indemnify the information they give you (for a price), so if, for example, it does turn out to be stolen after all and the police come and reclaim it, you're not out of pocket.
Have a look around the motoring websites to compare prices. They all use either Experian or HPI, but there's some differences in prices.
